Aging Skin

Photorejuvenation of aging skin

Photorejuvenation

Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive procedure that improves the skin signs of aging without extensive healing or down-time. It uses the breakthrough technology of intense pulsed light (IPL). Unlike lasers, which can target a specific skin abnormality, IPL can treat many different signs of aging simultaneously. Photorejuvenation treats the major signs of skin aging: fine dilated blood vessels, redness, dark blotches and fine wrinkles.

What body areas can be treated?

The face and neck are most commonly treated. However, virtually any area of the skin affected by signs of sun damage can be treated.

How does it work?

The IPL device emits light that is absorbed by specific targets in the skin. Because the IPL device emits light of multiple wavelengths, several different skin abnormalities can be treated. Blood vessels, dark blotches and wrinkles are all treated at once.

What can I expect during treatment?

You will lie down in the procedure room, and be given dark glasses to protect your eyes from the light. A cool gel will be applied to the skin. The smooth glass surface of the IPL handpiece is placed against the skin, and pulses of light are applied. You will feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a rubber band. An anesthetic cream may be applied, but is seldom necessary.

Why are multiple treatments needed?

By dividing the program into multiple sessions, the treatment provides gradual improvement with very low risk. Also, by treating in a gradual manner, there is no recovery period. You can return to work right away!

Why is IPL Photorejuvenation better than other treatments?

In addition to treating multiple different skin problems in each session, the procedure is gentle, non-invasive, and safe. There is no down time, and you can return to normal activity immediately.
